I usually don't pay much attention to gmail ads, but these caught my eye today, most likely due to my own attention given to the poetics of contemporary American poetry these days. It shouldn't surprise that these advertisements are economically oriented. They also present poetry as a game, a type of entertainment, which is also a matter of convenience, i.e., "instantly" has nothing to do with Olson's "instanter." I'd venture to say that this is what happens when capitalism finally waters down poststructuralism enough to make linguistic "play" look delicious, a matter of fancy and, essentially, an exciting or sexy game of chance. Anything goes, and you might just hit the jackpot.
